This challenging composition for Trumpet and Piano is dedicated to Roeland Henkens, Principal Trumpet at “Den Norske Opera & Ballett”. The three contrasting movements in “On The Road Up North” (Allegro Spiritoso, Lento ma non troppo, Allegro Scherzando) reflect on the move up north from Belgium to Norway which Roeland Henkens and I almost made simultaneously in 2016. The piece offers the soloist the opportunity to show the virtuosity of the instrument in both sound and technique.
