"Føniksmarsj" - Concert Band
One stormy night on Saturday, January 23rd, 1904, the city of Ålesund was hit by one of the largest catastrophic fires in Norway. 10,000 people became homeless and lost almost everything they owned.
With good help from both home and abroad, the reconstruction was immediately implemented. Resulting that, by the end of 1907, the entire city was rebuilt. Like a phoenix, Ålesund rose from the ashes in record time and was transformed into the country's most modern city, executed in Art Nouveau style and is today widely known for its architecture.
In March 2020, when the pandemic was a fact and the whole of Norway shut down, “Føniksmarsj” was commissioned by Nørvøy Ungdomskorps in Ålesund. The attitude was the same then as in 1904: Together we will make the city resurrect, stronger and more beautiful than ever!
